Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

10 Senior School pupils took part in their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Expedition on Wed 16th - Fri 18th May in Brecon. They walked approximately 15 miles over the three days and travelled by foot from the Brecon Basin to Talybont and the surrounding areas, navigating as a team. Pupils set up their own tents on the campsite and camped for 2 nights in Talybont. Pupils helped to prepare all of their own meals over the 3 days, clean the dishes and keep the camp tidy.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a challenging programme that gives young people the opportunity to experience new activities, develop skills and interests as well as fulfil their potential as active citizens.

Young people achieve an Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections.

Activities have included, working with charities such as Barnardo's, learning how to ski, running a business and using a range of adapted bikes to complete an Expedition.
