On Friday 18th May, the school was very fortunate received a visit from Clinton Purnell
who is a Welsh gymnast.
Clinton is a multiple Welsh champion and competed at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and was a participant in the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. At the 2016 Northern European Gymnastics Championships at Trondheim, Norway,
he won a Gold medal in the Vault category.
After not long returning from Australia from the Commonwealth games he visited our school to help the pupils take part in some fitness circuits that included spotty dogs, press ups and star jumps. Everyone that took part had a sticker. He also took a whole school assembly, where he talked about what it takes to make a successful athlete. He focused on effort and practice to be the best we can be and also,
about nutrition and the importance of drinking water.
Clinton also performed some gymnastics in assembly and amazed us all with his abilties. After the assembly, he gave out some prizes to those that had raised some money using their sponsorship forms. All the money raised will go towards helping athletes with the costs of training and equipment.
A huge thank you for everyones efforts as the school raised just over £180, and a massive thank you to Clinton for taking the time to come and visit us and motivate us all to be more active.
